Still Catching Up...

I wish I could devote more time to blogging these days, but the best I can do is to post when I can.

Stay tuned...

The Magic Chair Strikes Again!

Remember the saga of the magic chairs...

Well, despite the fact that I actually completed a scrapbook page about them, the story continues. This morning the Dandelion snuck off to visit Daddy at work, which is currently in the basement, while I did the Tumbleweed's hair. Of course that required a little help from one of the famous magic chairs...

Christmas Magic Chairs

It has been a while since I had a magic chairs update. Just when it seemed like the chairs were being used as chairs, I found the Dandelion helping with the Christmas tree decorating.

Why?

As I come to the end of my "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" posts, I wanted to reflect briefly on why I started blogging...

Because it is a great way to record memories, thoughts & milestones. When I first set up the blog (actually, the Eagle set it up), it was part of my New Year's Resolutions to keep better records for my scrapbooks. Over time, things have evolved from a paragraph here & there, to pictures & stories.

From time to time, I have blogged in different patterns and styles to use in my scrapbooks. "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" is one of my "works in progress", but it is along the lines of my holiday layout from last year. Below is the layout I created from the blog posts from November-December 2008.

So, my apologies if I bore anyone from time to time with these themed posts, but I do find them to be quite useful in my "creative process" :)

The Magic Chairs, Again

About 1 year ago, I started posting about our "Magic Chairs" --- the Green Kid-sized chairs that usually sit around our craft table. First there were posts about how the Tumbleweed used them (April 2008), then about how how the Dandilion was using them to learn to walk (May 2008), and then how I had to take them away because the Dandilion was trying to stand on them (September 2008). Well, I didn't mention it in the January Clean Sweep post, but I had decided they could return to the playroom. Since then they have been mostly used appropriately. That is, until last night.

He did this by himself! No help from his big sis.

Say goodbye to the chairs again....

Gone, but not forgotten

Well, much to the Tumbleweed's dismay, I had to remove the coloring table and chairs (and the peek-a-blocks turtle) from the family room. The Dandilion is so into climbing on top of everything it isn't safe right now.

The Tumbleweed has taken this personally, as she cannot color at the table or use the chairs to get everything on the "high" shelves. Each time she wants to use one, I get a whole sob story about how she NEEDS them. How she is having a "Terrible Day" because of me. Oh the drama.

I hope the Dandilion figures out how to climb down on his own soon, or I am going to have to take almost all of the furniture out of the house!

The Magic Chair - Part 2

The Dandilion has decided that moving the green chairs around the house is pretty cool. He is not using them for the same purpose as the Tumbleweed though - he uses them for walking support. He has gotten pretty proficient and can race across the kitchen or the family room. The only problem comes when he runs into something. Boy does he get mad! He stands there and cries until we redirect the chair. Not long now, and he will be a real walker!

The Magic Chair

The Tumbleweed has four green chairs from Ikea at her coloring table. At least they are supposed to be at her table. Lately I have been finding them all over the house.

It isn't really a new skill for her to use a chair to get things, but it has become more prevalant lately. She gets snacks, games that have been put up high on purpose, Easter candy, dresses from her closet, scotch tape (which she pulls off and can't tear), and anything else she wants. And, while the moving chair is cute, the taking without asking is not.

We have had several discussions and timeouts relating to this, but nothing seems to be making much of an impression because I still find her moving the chairs whenever she wants something. Especially, if I have already said no. I am not sure how to make it any more clear that this is wrong.

Maybe I need to take away her chairs.
